UA-UK INTERGROUP

Our vision and activities

UA-UK Intergroup has its own life and momentum that is visible, abundant and guided by Higher Power. Grounded in the traditions, rather than personalities, it is sustained by and sustains the fellowship across the UK and beyond.

UA-UK Intergroup is the radio station to which all meetings are attuned. Abundance is the frequency and God is the DJ

UA-UK Intergroup is an elected service committee made up of UA members. Its vision is to see Underearners Anonymous flourish in the UK. It achieves this vision through a range of service activities: supporting new meetings through a dedicated fund, organising workshops and the annual UA-UK Convention, providing literature and operating public information services including the UA-UK website and print materials. UA-UK Intergroup also provides public liability insurance for the UA-UK Fellowship as a whole and makes donations to UA World Service.

Traditions and contributions

Underearners Anonymous is based on the belief that the foundation of change and recovery from compulsive underearning is to be found in working the Twelve Steps and abiding by the Twelve Traditions first developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. As such, UA-UK Intergroup activities abide by the Twelve Traditions and all its work is supported solely by contributions from UA meetings and event donations. Intergroup manages its finances transparently based upon an agreed spending plan with some funds ring-fenced for specific service activities, such as new meetings, insurance, website and Convention. The Intergroup Treasurer provides a monthly report that is reviewed and agreed by the Committee at each meeting.

How we serve

UA-UK Intergroup holds monthly meetings that are chaired and minuted. Meetings are structured by agenda and operate an agreed voting system. Intergroup decisions are passed by majority vote following discussion and proposals from members, which is chaired by the elected Intergroup Committee Chair. Elected Intergroup Committee members and elected representatives from UA-UK meetings (Group Service Representatives or GSRs) are eligible to vote. Guests are welcome to join group discussion and to make proposals, however as non-elected members they do not have voting rights at Intergroup.

Meetings

UA-UK Intergroup meets monthly on the second Saturday of each month, 11.15am-12.45pm in the Quiet Room at Hinde Street Methodist Church. Intergroup meetings are attended by the Intergroup Committee and (GSRs) with all UA fellows welcome to attend meetings as guests.
